Rob Buhler was our guide and he was great! My sister and I joined him for a trip to various spots along the river. My sister has just recently had an interest to fly fish and has never been fishing before (of any sort). While we did not get many bites during the day, Rob had one last spot and my sister caught her fist fish!!! Thanks Rob, we'll be back for sure.

Wow! Guy Jeans’ Two-Day Nymphing Class on the Kern River was an absolute game changer for me. And, I had the best time! So much information and insight. So much experience and fish-wisdom. I went from “no-hits/no-fish” in my previous four trips to the Kern, to catching and landing three nice ones on the second day (and losing three even nicer ones. Ughhh!!!) The entire course was hands-on; both in the classroom and on the water. In his easy-going and approachable style, Guy covered everything from knots to bugs, from reading the water to casting techniques, from presentation to a variety of nymphing leader set-ups and more. The course included a copy of his spiral bound, illustrated nymphing workbook and an assortment of leaders and nymphs. Then, on day two, he helped me set-up and use the Redington Euro Nymph Field Kit I got for Christmas. His on-the-water guiding skills made it seem like I was his only client for the day, even though there were three of us in the class. Yes, I’m trying to sell you on taking this course. I can’t speak highly enough of Guy or this training. This is a Must-Do experience. And a special shout-out to Dan-o for helping me navigate the fly shop options and fix my goofed up reel!!! Just finished a 2-day fly fishing class on euro-nymphing. What a wonderful experience. Guy Jeans is knowledgeable, personable, and able to explain techniques and skills in a comprehensible manner. He gives a good amount of time to practice the skills and then supports each student as we applied the lessons on the river. His booklet is an excellent resource to reinforce the learning after the class is over. I highly recommend spending time here.

Had a great experience, both in class and on the water. I wanted to set up a Tenkara rod for euro nymphing and Guy was very helpful. Caught my first rainbow on this setup. Being with a group was also nice as we watched each other learn and ask questions. Thank for the great weekend. Guy also directed me to a really spectacular campground. I’ll be coming back.
