April 2025 California Snowpack Update

Understanding snowpack data is essential to predicting spring and summer fishing conditions across the state.

As of April 9, 2025, here’s how California’s snow water equivalent numbers are shaping up:

  • Northern Sierra / Trinity: 29.9 inches – 115% of April 1 Average, 120% of normal for this date

  • Central Sierra: 25.5 inches – 91% of April 1 Average, 93% of normal for this date

  • Southern Sierra: 18.2 inches – 82% of April 1 Average, 85% of normal for this date

These totals are encouraging across the board, especially in the Southern Sierra. With Kernville at the heart of this region, we’re looking at consistent flows through spring, vibrant bug life, and ideal water conditions for anglers of all experience levels.
